Search & Recovery

(4 dives ( 3 min*), 2 and 1/2 days)

You can consider this course an advanced navigation course with additional advanced problem solving skills. In fact the Navigation specialty course is a good *prerequisite option. The Advanced course is also a *prerequisite option to Search & Recovery. If your advanced course included a Search & Recovery adventure dive it may be credited toward the specialty. The Search & Recovery specialty is not a prerequisite for rescue diver but probably should be. Those divers with Search & Recovery training fare far better in the rescue course. It is also an excellent specialty course for the future Master Scuba Diver.

This is a prescriptive program which requires you answer the review questions in the "Search & Recovery Specialty Manual" and view "Search & Recovery DVD" before you begin the class. On day one we'll meet in the early afternoon to review the study questions before we go diving the next day. Since Search & Recovery is equipment intensive we take up too much space on boats. Therefore, the dives are usually done from shore. We meet early in the morning for 2 days at the beach. Everything you need for the course is included in our price except the Search & Recovery Specialty Manual**, your swim suit, towel and sun block.

*Either the Advanced or Navigator Specialty courses from PADI, or other qualifying agency, may also serve as the prerequisite.

**Books are not included in our price so you can buy them near home without being double charged. We encourage you to visit your local dive shop to buy the manuals and tables if you have time. Establishing a relationship with a local dive shop will help keep you diving in the future. If this doesn't work for you, we can provide the books (no shipping charges) when you book a class in time to receive them.
